With around two (2) million women in the U.S. diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, all women need to prioritize their breast health. Early detection plays a crucial role in improving the chances of survival from breast cancer.
Advanced Technology for Early Detection & Diagnosis
Chances are, breast cancer has affected you through a family member or a close friend, or perhaps you have faced it yourself. You understand the profound effect it has not just on the individual diagnosed but also on their loved ones. Baptist Health provides a variety of breast imaging services, featuring the latest in digital mammography technology, as well as Tomosynthesis/3D mammograms designed to identify breast cancer at its earliest and most treatable stages.
To produce a 3D mammogram, your technologist captures multiple low-dose images from various angles around the breast. In contrast, a standard mammogram generates a two-dimensional view of the breast using two X-ray images of each breast. If your insurance does not cover the cost of a 3D mammogram, you have the option to request one for an extra fee of $60.
Doctors can enhance, enlarge, or adjust digital mammograms for more detailed analysis. Your mammogram will undergo three readings—twice by radiologists and once with the assistance of computer-aided detection—to ensure you receive the utmost reassurance.
