Pricing Transparency is one opportunity to help aid in the hospital experience. To make billing, insurance coverage, and health information management more transparent, we provide patient estimation specialists that can assist you based on your individual circumstances. This group can address your questions related to your personal out-of-pocket responsibility and give you average price quotes in advance of services being provided in compliance with federal law.
Our patient estimation specialist team members welcome questions and are available to provide assistance tailored to your individual needs. To obtain a quote for care in a Baptist Health facility, please contact 334-747-4600, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In order to provide the most accurate information, please have ready when you dial:
- A detailed description of the test(s)/procedures(s) being ordered by your physician
- Name of ordering Physician and office phone number
- If you have insurance, have your insurance card available: Name of insurance company, policy number, group number, the name of the insured (policy holder’s name)
- Our patient estimation specialists will use this information to provide you an estimate of the services you are requesting and the following information will be included:
- The estimated financial responsibility for the procedure/services based on the average charges for the procedure/services
- Patients with health insurance will be quoted an estimated amount that will be due to the hospital based on the coverage established by the health insurance plan including deductibles and other cost-shares as outlined by the individual insurance plan.
- Patients who do not have health insurance will be quoted an estimated amount that will be due to the hospital that will include an uninsured discount to the estimate. Financial Counselors are also available to discuss with patients their eligibility for financial assistance including certain programs like Medicaid and Charity Care.
- Estimates will not include services related to complications that may occur. Professional fees such as physicians, pathologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists will not be included in the hospital’s estimate for services. Those physicians’ professional fees are separately billable from the physician and are not included in the hospital estimates. The patient estimation specialists can help facilitate additional contact information for professional fee discussions.
Hospital estimates are not exact and should not be interpreted as a bill or exact cost for services. Instead, our service is offered to help educate patients and their families understand how their specific insurance plan will work and allow them to focus on their healthcare.
The standard hospital charges are included for your convenience in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, Section 2718(e) of the Public Service Act.
