Luis Rivera, MD

Dr. Luis Rivera received his medical degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He also completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Rivera’s clinical interests and procedures include Colon and Rectal Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Rectal Prolapse, Anal Fissures, Anal Fistulas, Hemorrhoids and Diverticulitis.

A proud member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Dr. Rivera was awarded Resident of the Year for General Surgery at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from INTEC in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Dr. Rivera enjoys spending time with family and grilling. A self-proclaimed foodie, he is on a mission to find the best homemade hamburger in America. His favorite quote to live by remains, “If you decide to do something, do it right, or don’t do it.” – Yvonne Aguasvivas.
