Center for Diabetes and Nutrition Education

Since 1995, the Center for Diabetes has been recognized for its excellence by the American Diabetes Associates, serving as a valuable resource for individuals with diabetes in central Alabama.

Certified diabetes educators, who are both registered nurses and registered dietitians, offer personalized instruction to patients in one-on-one sessions and small group settings, covering all facets of diabetes management, including blood glucose monitoring (with a monitor typically provided), medication, nutrition, and physical activity.

Additionally, certified instructors for insulin pump therapy are available to assist patients. Special programs tailored for those with gestational diabetes are also provided. Outpatient services can be accessed through self-referral or a physician's referral, and insurance claims for outpatient diabetes education can be submitted with a physician's referral.
