Wound Care Center Opens

January 2006 -- Baptist Health is proud to announce the grand opening of the Institute for Advanced Wound Care, located at 2167 Normandie Drive on the campus of Baptist Medical Center South. A grand opening ceremony will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the institute.

Terry Treadwell, M.D., and Warren Gewant, M.D., will lead a highly skilled team of healthcare professionals. The institute will introduce new services, including ultrasonic wound debridements and laser Doppler vascular evaluation, to assist in patient care.

The Institute will open its doors to patients Feb. 1.

It is estimated that more than five million people suffer chronic, non-healing wounds caused by such maladies as diabetes, spider bites and some burns. Usually found on the feet or legs, these chronic wounds show little sign of healing after three weeks of good care. Without proper care under a physician educated in wound care a patient might lose his limb, or even his life.
