Montgomery Surgical Center

This is a rendering of the Taylor Medical Complex on the Baptist Medical Center East campus. Tenants of the three-story 85,000 square foot facility will include Montgomery Surgical Center and professional offices.

The Montgomery Surgical Center will be located on the first floor and will have eight state-of-the-art, integrated operating rooms. Taylor Medical Complex will provide much needed space for growing clinical services and will be an attractive addition to the East campus. Construction will be complete in the spring of 2008.

 

The Montgomery Surgical Center became the first freestanding surgery center licensed in the state of Alabama. Founded in 1984 by a group of local physicians, the surgical center began operations with an average of 250 patients per month.

Since that time, the facility has expanded in physical appearance, as well as caseload size (currently averaging 900 patients per month). The center now houses six pre-operative bays, six operating rooms, two Endoscopy rooms, 14 recovery bays, a business office and waiting areas. Currently all registered nurses on staff are ACLS certified.

Advanced procedures, improved medical technologies and new methods of post op pain management allow many patients to go home the same day. Gastroenterology and pain management services are also offered in addition to general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, ENT, plastic surgery, oral surgery, ophthalmology, shoulder arthroscopy, operative laparoscopy and laser surgery.

The Montgomery Surgical Center is fully accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
