Homecoming Checklist
Bringing home your preemie is a joyous -occasion-one that likely has been weeks or months in the making. Before heading home, consider the following:
* Arrange for homecoming help.
* Have a list of emergency numbers readily available.
* Learn and practice infant CPR.
* Get to really know your baby by spending a night or two at the hospital prior to discharge.
* Practice diapering, feeding, bathing, taking temperatures and administering medications while your baby is still hospitalized.
* Schedule routine visits with your pediatrician. (Preemies require extra visits to the doctor.)
* Modify your car seat with padding and head support.
* Plan to spend several quiet weeks at home, limiting visitors and trips outside the house.
