| Your Baby's Growth - 20 weeks By 20 weeks gestation, the mother-to-be will most definitely feel fetal movements. The first movement felt by the mother is referred to as “quickening”, or perception of life. When a woman is uncertain of her menstrual dates, the doctor may use the date of “quickening” to determine probable fetal age and the approximate date of delivery. The fetus is skinny, but fat is now beginning to be deposited under his or her translucent skin. Fine, downy hair covering the body is called “lanugo”. Internal organs are maturing quickly. The fetus is about 10 inches long and weighs from eight ounces to one pound. |
