Meadhaven Psychiatric Care
Meadhaven,
located on the campus of Baptist Medical Center South, offers 24-hour
short-term, intensive psychiatric care for adults. Meadhaven Outpatient
Center, located in
the Normandie Building behind Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, offers two distinct
outpatient services for adults: a psychiatric partial hospitalization
program and an addictive disease program.
Addictive Disease Outpatient Program
The Meadhaven Addictive Disease Outpatient Program
promotes an atmosphere of success and confidence that offers encouragement
to those seeking help with alcohol and/or drug dependency. Patients are
treated with dignity in an environment that respects privacy. From their
first day, patients begin to see there is hope and that lasting recovery
is possible for them and their families.
The goal at Meadhaven is to provide effective therapy
to men and women desiring to recover from alcoholism/drug addiction and to
give them the help they need to maintain normal, productive lives free
from chemical dependency.
Located at the Meadhaven Outpatient Center in
the Normandie Building behind Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, the comprehensive outpatient program is
designed to deal with the specific problems of each individual. Treatment
is tailored to the particular plans, goals and needs of the patient and is
based on four very important concepts:
-
Alcohol/drug addiction is a primary, progressive
and life-long disease.
-
As a disease, alcohol/drug addiction is a
condition that requires treatment.
-
Both the alcoholic/addict and family members
suffer physically, mentally and spiritually.
-
Alcoholism/addiction is a family disease, and
recovery must be a family process.
The program offers the following services for adults 18
and older:
-
Daily individual and group therapy
-
Family involvement
-
Weekly drug tests during program
-
Two years of continuing aftercare upon discharge
from the program
The patient's psychiatrist oversees the treatment
process in conjunction with certified alcohol and drug counselors and
other treatment specialists.
Detoxification if necessary is available on a
designated medical unit at Baptist Medical Center South prior to admission
to the outpatient program.
Calls are welcome from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and are handled with strict confidence. For more information,

Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program
Many people experience depression, anxiety, stress or other emotional
problems but do not require 24-hour hospital care. Others may be involved
in outpatient counseling but have experienced little improvement in
symptoms. Still others have completed inpatient hospitalization but are
still in need of continuing support and daily counseling services. Partial
Hospitalization may be the answer for these patients.
The Meadhaven Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization
Program is located at the Meadhaven Outpatient Center in
the Normandie Building behind Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. The program provides innovative psychiatric services
for adults who are able to return home each day. The goal at Meadhaven is
to help each patient reach maximum potential for an independent lifestyle.
Partial Hospitalization is appropriate for adult
patients who have a serious mental illness and require a structured
program of therapy for several hours daily to attain specific treatment
goals. It is not appropriate for those patients whose psychiatric illness
is so severe that they cannot be maintained in the community and thus
requires inpatient care.
Meadhaven provides a caring, supportive environment
where adult patients can focus on recovery. The Partial Hospitalization
Program rebuilds emotional foundations for patients and helps guide them
toward more fulfilling lives.
The following services are provided:
A psychiatrist leads the multidisciplinary treatment
team that also consists of a therapist and nurse. All work together to
create an individualized treatment program for the patient.
Program hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through
Friday.

Psychiatric Inpatient Program
The Meadhaven Psychiatric Inpatient Program deals with psychiatric
problems that can affect men and women during any stage in their lives.
Sometimes life-threatening psychiatric illnesses are as serious as heart
disease or cancer, and like any physical illness, should not be ignored.
Effective treatment is available to allow individuals to go on to lead
healthy, happy lives.
According to statistics provided by the National
Institute of Mental Health, one out of six adults experiences emotional
problems at some time in their lives. It is further estimated that more
than 51million Americans have a mental disorder in a single year.
Fortunately, there are many new and effective forms of treatment
available.
