Baptist Home Services
Did you know Baptist Health has the only hospital-affiliated home services
agency in the area? Baptist Home Services offers two distinct homecare
services for patients: Baptist Hospice and Baptist Home Health.
Baptist Hospice
Baptist Hospice is a special way of caring for people
with a terminal illness. It is designed to help people spend their remaining
days as comfortably as possible at home surrounded by their loved ones.
Baptist Hospice strives to create a secure and caring environment that
emphasizes the quality of life by focusing on the physical, emotional,
social, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Benefits include
nurses specially trained in pain and symptom management, nursing assistants
to assist with personal care, a chaplain, social worker, and volunteers. A
registered nurse is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so help is as
close as your phone! Medications and medical equipment for comfort care are
also covered at 100%. Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most
insurance plans. Ability to pay is not a consideration for admission.
Baptist Hospice serves patients with in a 50-mile radius of Montgomery.
For more information please call Baptist Hospice at
334-395-5000.
Home Health
Baptist Home Health consists of a team of healthcare
professionals offering home oriented alternatives to hospitalization,
assistance following hospitalization, and assistance with daily activities.
The staff has an in depth knowledge base, keen skills, and the ability to
function independently.
The service area covers eight counties: Montgomery,
Autauga, Elmore, Macon, Bullock, Pike, Lowndes, and Crenshaw. RNs and LPNs
provide excellent skill and care, while physical, occupational and speech
therapists are experienced at restoring your ability to do for yourself.
They round out their services with psychiatric and pediatric nursing, and
medical social services.
To qualify for home health, patients must meet three
criteria: they must have an attending physician who orders home health
services; they must be homebound; and they must need a skilled service
(nursing, physical therapy, and speech therapy). Following the physician
referral, home health will contact the patient and develop an individualized
plan of care based on his or her needs and physician recommendations.
Baptist Home Health services are covered by Medicare,
Medicaid and most private insurance plans. Self-payment arrangements are
also accepted.
