"Birdies for Babies" Golf Classic to Benefit NICUs

March 2004 - Warmer beds, heart monitors and IV pumps are just some of the costly equipment necessary to maintain the tiny lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Baptist Medical Center East and Baptist Medical Center South. Over the last several years these items were purchased through the Baptist Health Care Foundation with the help of over $360,000 in proceeds raised at the annual "Birdies for Babies" Golf Classic. On Tuesday, April 20, 2004, the Baptist Health Care Foundation will continue the tradition at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery. The Barclay Agency sponsors the event.

"This year, as in the past, the tournament proceeds will be used to purchase new equipment for our Neonatal Intensive Care Units," explained Ben Kelley, Baptist Health Care Foundation Executive Director. "The equipment will assist our devoted nurses in caring for over 300 critically ill babies this year."

The tenth annual "Birdies for Babies" Golf Classic is open to 232 golfers and features a four-person team scramble format. The entry fee per player is $175 ($75 is tax deductible) or $700 per foursome ($300 is tax deductible).
