Good Health at School
If your child has diabetes, asthma, or another chronic illness, be sure the child is cared for at school.
1. Talk to the school nurse and the child’s teachers. Make sure they understand your child’s health problem.
2. Tell the teachers what to do if your child has symptoms. Write instructions down. Include phone numbers for you and your child’s doctors.
3. Be sure the child can take medicine in private.
4. If your child’s health changes in any way, including taking medicine, let the school know.
5. Meet with the child’s teachers often. Ask them if health problems are getting in the way of learning.
