Biography

Dr. Lievens obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL and his medical degree from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL.  He then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his internship and residency training. Dr. Lievens completed his neurology fellowship in 2013.  He is a Board Certified Neurologist, and Board Eligible in Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Sleep Medicine, and Central Clinical Neurophysiology.  

While in training, Dr. Lievens received the Excellence in Research Resident Award through the Department of Neurology.  He also served as the President of the House Staff Council and was on the Dean’s Council for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Lievens has a special interest in treating patients with epilepsy.
