Child Life Internship Application Procedure

Baptist Medical Center South is a not-for-profit general hospital that consists of 454 beds.  Five South is designated as the Pediatric Unit for patients 0-18 years old.  The unit consists of 40 beds (3 holding beds, 2 Close Observation beds, 35 semi-private/private beds).

Child Life Interns are processed through Child Life and Human Resources for health, security volunteer benefits and documentation processes.  All interns must carry insurance for the duration of the internship. 

Child Life Internships are a minimum of 12 weeks for at least 480 hours.  Internships begin in January, May/June, August/September.

Selection of Child Life Interns is on a basis of academics, previous hospital experience working with children, communication skills and interview.

Orientation is provided by Human Resources and the Child Life Staff.

Hours are coordinated with the Child Life Program.

Clothing must comply with Baptist Health employee dress code and the dress code of the Child Life Program.  A hospital nametag must be worn at all times.

Benefits include a meal ticket for one meal per day.  Interns are invited to attend special hospital events, meetings, and training workshops.
