Get With The Guidelines is a quality improvement initiative by the American Heart Association that provides hospital staff with tools that follow proven evidence-based guidelines and procedures in caring for heart failure patients to prevent future hospitalizations.
These awards represent measures being taken to ensure that patients receive quality care and that every patient is treated consistently using the most recent evidence-based guidelines.

Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care by Blue Cross Blue Shield
This distinction was given after it was determined that Baptist Medical Center South met criteria for selection. Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care provide a full range of cardiac services, including inpatient cardiac care, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass graft surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions. Facilities must also be fully accredited by The Joint Commission.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield created the nationwide Blue Distinction program with two goals in mind--first to engage consumers to make more informed healthcare choices and second to work with providers to improve quality outcomes and affordability.
