In the News - Baptist Health Ranked in the Top 15 Health Systems in the Nation

Baptist Health has been selected as one off the recipients of the 2012 Thomson Reuters 15 Top Health Systems award. This award recognizes the nation’s top 15 health systems for setting industry benchmarks for excellence across the healthcare spectrum. Impressively, Baptist Health was the only health system in Alabama to receive this prestigious recognition.

Researchers from Thomson Reuters aspire to measure the impact health systems and clinicians have on assuring consistent, long-term improvement in delivering quality care and the highest levels of balanced organizational performance for individual patients and specific populations. Selection for the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems award is performance based and relies solely on unbiased statistical and clinical results. The 2012 study found that the top 15 health systems:
· Saved more lives and caused significantly fewer patient complications
· Followed industry-recommended standards of care more closely
· Ranked higher in patient safety
· Release patients half a day sooner
· Scored significantly better on overall patient satisfaction
· Provide an overall superior level of clinical care with better patient outcomes

The Baptist Health family of physicians, staff and volunteers has long been committed to a Christian mission of healing care and compassion. This particular award is validation of Baptist Health’s commitment to provide the highest levels of system-wide quality, safety, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
