Baptist Health Among Top Health Systems Nationwide

For the second time in two years, Baptist Health has been named in Thomson Reuters’ annual 100 Top Hospitals: Health System Benchmarks Study identifying the top U.S. health systems based on quality of care, efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Among the key performance measures studied by researchers, were medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, readmission rates and adherence to clinical standards of care based on measures published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Also key to the assessment were results from a patient satisfaction survey sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that looked at quality of care in hospitals. Thomson Reuters used data from two public databases: Medicare Provider Analysis and Review, or MedPAR, and the CMS' Hospital Compare.

“It is rewarding to be recognized for the professional care and compassion administered here in our community by Baptist Health physicians and staff,” said Baptist Health President & CEO Russell Tyner.  “It is important to be known locally as a leading healthcare provider, but we are particularly honored to be acknowledged nationally for leading efforts to enhance patient safety and patient satisfaction and to be grouped among the best healthcare organizations in the country. We are very proud to once again receive such national recognition from Thomson Reuters.”

All U.S. health systems with two or more short-term, general acute-care hospitals were assessed for the study.
