Baptist East Names New CEO

Baptist Medical Center East has named Jeff Rains, chief executive officer beginning July 15.

Rains is currently CEO of Dekalb Regional Hospital. He has more than 13 years of healthcare leadership experience. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama and his master’s in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

“Jeff has an excellent track record of building strong physician, staff and community relationships and ensuring high levels of organizational performance,” Robin Barca, Baptist Health’s chief operating officer, said. “He is an excellent choice to follow Peter Selman and continue the legacy of outstanding performance at Baptist Medical Center East.”

Baptist Medical Center East was recently named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Truven Health Analytics formerly the healthcare business of Thomson Reuters. This was third time Baptist East was recognized with this honor, and the second year Baptist East was the only hospital in Alabama to receive this recognition.

Upon Rains’ arrival, Peter Selman will immediately assume responsibility as chief executive officer at Baptist Medical Center South.
