Camp Celebration Teaches Children Techniques for Handling Grief

Experiencing the loss of a loved one is a wound that needs time and love to heal. Children may attempt to heal this wound by expressing themselves in various manners, including withdrawal, anger and attention seeking. To help children cope with a loss or traumatic experience, Baptist Hospice is hosting Camp Celebration, sponsored by New York Life, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 30 at Pete Peterson Lodge, 2635 Gunter Park Drive East, Montgomery. This one-day camp is for children ages 5 to 17.

The day-long program will give grieving children and teens the opportunity to face their grief and freely express their emotions through a variety of activities. The participants will learn coping skills that will help them through the ongoing grief process.

Pre-registration is required. If you know of anyone interested in attending Camp Celebration, please call Mona McDermott at 395-5000.
