Baptist South Receives Heart Association Awards

Montgomery - Baptist Medical Center South has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines-Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Silver Performance Achievement Award and the Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The awards will be presented to Lynne Parker, CEO of Baptist Medical Center South, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8 in auditorium of the Montgomery Cardiovascular Institute, 2119 East South Blvd.

Get With The Guidelines is a quality improvement initiative that provides hospital staff with tools that follow proven evidence-based guidelines and procedures in caring for patients to prevent future hospitalizations.

Hospitals that receive the Get With The Guidelines-CAD Silver Performance Achievement Award have demonstrated for at least one year that 85 percent of its coronary patients (without contraindications) are discharged following the American Heart Association's recommended treatment guidelines.

The Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Performance Achievement Award recognition signifies that Baptist Medical Center South has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85 percent compliance for at least 24 months to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.

"Baptist Medical Center South is dedicated to making our care for cardiovascular patients among the best in the country and implementing the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease programs help us accomplish this goal by making it easier for our professionals to improve the long-term outcome for our patients," Parker said.
