Lifeline Services

Lifeline is a personal emergency response system. A way to get help when you can't call for help yourself. The program was started by Baptist Health in 1982 as a community service with donations from the community to pay for equipment. As a result of the community support, it is open to anyone in the community. There are currently more than 650 people in central Alabama that are served by Lifeline of Baptist Health.

The benefits for subscribers and their families and friends include:

  • Peace of Mind - every day they know that should they need help they can get it at the touch of a button
  • Independence - independence for the subscriber to be by themselves and carry on their daily activities and independence for families to go about their lives knowing that they will be called if they are needed
  • Security - knowing that help is available at the touch of a button
  • Choices - of how they want to live their life
  • Affordable - at just one dollar a day without an initial investment to loose, just a $35 installation fee and a three month commitment
  • Consistent -installed and serviced by a hospital you have trusted for years
  • Reliable - equipment that is state-of-the-art and manufactured by a company that specializes in Personal Emergency Response Systems
  • Supportive Intervention - falls are one of the biggest problems of the older population and the "fear of falling" causes them to restrict their activities even more. Lifeline can keep falls from becoming even more debilitating by quick intervention. Lifeline gives subscribers the freedom to engage in their every day activities again.

Features:

  • Home communicator - a machine that connects into the phone jack and electricity
  • Personal help button - a waterproof button worn around the neck or on an arm band
  • Backup battery - runs for 10 hours withut electricity
Range of 400 feet - the button will activate the communicator at this distance
  • Silent alarm - for problems such as when the equipment is unplugged
  • Speaker phone - during a call for help you can communicate with the operators through the speakerphone.
  • Voice extender - for large or multi-level homes
