Children Learn to Cope with Grief at Camp Celebration

When children experience a loss, the way they handle their grief is different from adults. Children may attempt to heal this wound by expressing themselves in various behaviors, including withdrawal, anger and attention seeking. To help children cope with a loss or traumatic experience, Baptist Hospice is hosting Camp Celebration, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at Pete Peterson Lodge, 2635 Gunter Park Drive East, Montgomery. This one-day camp is for children ages 6 to 15.

The day-long program will give grieving children and teens the opportunity to face their grief and freely express their emotions through a variety of activities. The participants will learn coping skills that will help them through the ongoing grief process.

Pre-registration is required. If you know of anyone interested in attending Camp Celebration, please call Mona McDermott at (334) 395-5000.
