Baptist Health departments receive accreditation

Baptist Health Laboratory and Respiratory Departments at Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center East and Prattville Baptist Hospital received special recognition for their commitment to excellence. They were awarded a two-accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologist after recent onsite inspections. Each lab was evaluated based on their level of quality, safety and overall performance.

During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the previous two years. Equipment, facilities, the safety program, as well as the overall management are also inspected. The process is stringent to ensure the highest level of care for patients.

This accreditation was made possible by the Laboratory and Respiratory Departments’ staff and the following physicians: Glen R. Pinkston, M.D., medical director for the Baptist South Laboratory; Rhonda Wright M.D., medical director for Baptist East; Norman Bell M.D., medical director for Prattville Baptist; Fred Hunker M.D., medical director for Blood Gas Laboratory, Baptist South; William Saliski M.D., medical director for Blood Gas Laboratory, Baptist East; and Kenneth Nichols M.D., medical director for Blood Gas Laboratory, Prattville Baptist.
